Films for educational use

Here are the films produced by Forum for Men’s Health for educational purposes. The films may be used free of charge, but may only be used for training healthcare professionals.

Suggestions for questions you can discuss when working with the films:

  • What do you notice in the health visitor’s communication with the couple?
    • What is she doing right?
    • What could be done differently?
    • How could she have put the questions?
  • What else can you emphasise in such a situation?
  • What signals do you see the father showing in the situation?
    • What is the best way to accommodate a father like this?
    • What other types of fathers do you see in your work?
  • How do you see the dynamics at work between the father and the health visitor?
    • What could she have done differently?
  • Were there any other topics you think the health visitor could have raised with the father/couple?

The 3 films are:

  • Parental leave: The health visitor visits the couple during pregnancy. The visit is almost over. The film opens up for a conversation about how to facilitate the couple’s discussions about sharing parental leave in a good way.
  • Gatekeeper: The health visitor visits a couple at 3 weeks. In the situation in the film, the mother takes up a lot of attention, and you can talk about the best way to involve and engage the father in the visit and in being a father.
  • Postnatal depression: The health visitor comes for the 8-week visit with the couple, who have just completed the questionnaires that screen for postnatal depression. Based on the film, you can talk about the best way to talk to a father who scores high in the screening.
